Weight is measured in grams per square metre, and it tells you more about a garment's life than the fibre content does. A 240gsm twill and a 320gsm twill are different objects wearing the same name.
For a climate like ours, high-twist wool does the work that linen gets credit for. The yarn is spun tightly enough to hold air, which means it breathes, resists creasing, and recovers overnight on a hanger.
Buy for the season you actually have, not the one in the lookbook. A coat photographed in a European winter is a costume in Lagos.
