Cover Story: The Man Building Lagos's Next Tailoring House

Across West Africa, a quiet industrial shift is underway inside independent tailoring houses and garment workshops. Founders are moving beyond bespoke commissions for Saturday weddings into scalable, small-batch ready-to-wear built to international tolerances.

The challenge has never been creative vision; it has been power reliability, cotton and wool supply chains, and pattern standardization. A new cohort of Lagos and Accra workshop directors are solving those bottlenecks from the ground up.

By training apprentices on modern pattern-grading systems while preserving hand-finished lapels and artisanal embroidery, they are building the commercial blueprint for African luxury.
